Today, I’ll be continuing to give you guys the truth behind some of the beauty industry’s most popular products, which are setting sprays. I’ve come to learn that some of the most sought-after setting sprays in the industry aren’t as great as they seem. It is important to remember that this is just my opinion on what works for me, so if you absolutely love the product I don’t recommend, that’s okay!
NOT THE HOLY GRAIL
Let’s start with the setting spray that I have learned isn’t as great as advertised. This is probably the most well-known setting spray on the market, and most of you will probably be shocked to hear that I don’t love it.
The Urban Decay All-Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is probably my most hated product that I have ever bought.

I know hate is a strong word to use, but I never saw any of the benefits that it was advertised to have. Urban Decay claims that this setting spray should keep your makeup in place for up to 16 hours. I never experienced this claim any time I used the spray. Not only was I a dancer my whole life, but I was also a cheerleader all throughout high school, where I would wear makeup regularly. I needed a setting spray that would help keep my makeup stay in place for long periods, and Urban Decay All Nighter failed that test after countless times my makeup wore off or transferred onto my flyers uniform.

Here’s my makeup after competing at the Missouri regional competition (far left).
MY HOLY GRAIL
My all-time favorite setting spray has been put through any situation, and my makeup will always look amazing afterward. The holy grail of setting sprays to me is the NYX Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray.

This setting spray has kept a full face of makeup in place all day through most conditions other products couldn’t withstand. I’ve found this setting spray to be waterproof, sweatproof, and even mask-proof.

Here’s my makeup after competing at the state competition (second from the left).
The best part of using this setting spray is that it’s under $10; that’s half the price of the Urban Decay spray, which costs over $30.
SEAL OF APPROVAL
I hope you all have learned about these setting sprays and might possibly try out my favorite. The best tip I can give when it comes to using a setting spray is to shake it well before spraying your face, or you could end up with the separated formula residue all over your makeup.
