NYX SHINE LOUD LIP COLLECTION

Today, I’ll be reviewing a new trending lip product, the NYX Shine Loud Shine High Lip Color.

NYX describes their product as an “ultra-pigmented high-shine lip color, with up to 16-hour no transfer wear. It is also a vegan formula infused with macadamia seed oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil, apricot kernel oil, passion fruit seed oil”.

PURCHASE

I learned about this product through social media because it went viral for being a transfer-proof lip color. At my local Ulta, I picked up a specialty set of this product. My set was the Princess Nokia Lip Kit in the shade Boundary Pusher. The set included the Shine Loud lip color and a slim lip pencil in the shade Cappuccino.

FIRST IMPRESSION

When opening the packaging, my first impression was that I bought a color that is way too dark for my complexion. The shade Boundary Pusher is a deep mauve with a hint of a nude orange undertone. When I purchased this product, I didn’t have the 24-shade range available to choose from, so I guessed on a color.

APPLICATION

The directions on the box list 4 steps for application:

1. Start by lining or overlining lips with the slim lip pencil.

2. Apply Shine Loud base coat.

3. Wait 90 seconds for the base coat to dry.

4. Lock in pigment with topcoat.

Before I applied mine, I did my normal lip routine. I started by exfoliating my lips with Tree Hut Sugarlips and then wiped them off to clear any excess scrub and dead skin. Then I moved into the four steps and added a tissue test to check if it transfers.

1. Line the lips

2. Apply base coat and let dry for 90 seconds

3. Apply top coat

4. Tissue test

REVIEW

My overall review of the NYX Shine Loud High Shine went in with very high expectations. All of the reviews over this product that I’ve seen before showed that it is transfer-proof. The formula of the product is very lightweight for a liquid lipstick. It has comfortable wear throughout the day, unlike most liquid lips. My experiences with it have led me to learn a few tips to ensure it will last for 16 hours.

TIPS

1. Don’t eat anything excessive, or you will have to reapply.

2. Don’t use thick layers, or it will start to bead up on your lips and smear.

3. Don’t try to layer other lip glosses on top of the Shine Loud.

4. Don’t excessively overline your lips, or it will smear down your chin.

5. Don’t layer more base color over the topcoat when there is still a large amount of product left on your lips.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, this is a fun lip product. Their large shade range allows for several options of makeup looks and is very inclusive. NYX has done a great job of making this viral product accessible in a large variety of stores other than just their website online. I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase this product in a different color.
